SUMMARY:Spring Break Law Experience & Advising Program (LEAP)
DESCRIPTION:Visit firms and learn more about practicing law during spring break! \nGot plans for spring break? The Spring Break Law Experience and Advising Program (LEAP) is a three-day program specifically designed to help undergraduate students explore their future interest in pursuing a career in law. \nApply for this FREE program and learn more about law school and what it means to actually work as an attorney.  Participants will have the opportunity to learn from law students\, law school staff\, practicing attorneys\, and UW advisors about different types of law\, legal careers\, the law school application process\, and develop tools to determine whether becoming a lawyer is the right path for you. \nWe are looking for 10-12 undergraduate students who are willing to commit a portion of their spring break THIS March to exploring law through trips to local firms and the Wisconsin Supreme Court\, a visit to the UW Law School\, and networking opportunities with staff and other UW alumni. The application to apply for this opportunity is live now! Additional details can be found below. \n  \nSELECTIONS CONSIDERATIONS: The program is designed to not only expose students to the practice of law and help them prepare to apply to law school in the future\, but also to increase equity and diversity in the legal field. \n\nParticipants must be current UW-Madison undergraduates with an interest in exploring law.\nPriority will be given to undergraduates who come from communities and populations that are historically underrepresented and underserved within the field of law\, including underrepresented students of color as well as students from first-generation\, rural\, and low-income backgrounds.\nPriority will be given to applicants who will significantly benefit from gaining more exposure to law fields and building related professional networks.\nParticipants should have a minimum cumulative GPA of a 2.5\, but exceptions may be granted based on extenuating circumstances or upward grade trends.\n\nAPPLICATION DEADLINE: February 11\, at 5:00 PM \nThis Spring Break Law Experience and Advising Program (LEAP) is co-sponsored by the Center for Pre-Law Advising and SuccessWorks at the College of Letters & Science and you can apply now by clicking here! Students from ALL Schools and Colleges at UW-Madison are eligible to apply.Questions about this program or the application process?
